Abin Sur was a member of the Green Lantern Corps until fatally wounded by Parallax in battle. He passed his power ring to the human who came to be Earth’s own Green Lantern.
None of which qualifies him for inclusion on the MHDB.
Besides a nod to pure childhood nostalgia, I think I include him out of respect for his cosmic power of consistency. It is hard to imagine any other tertiary character from comic history to survive so many reboots with no updates. Even Lois Lane changes hairstyles.

Beyond his classic fashion sense, something else strikes me as familiar about a character who shows up unchanged with every new telling only to be unceremoniously killed, but I can’t exactly put my finger on it.
