The Falcon is a pretty straightforward concept for a character: he has a pet bird and he flies. Oh, and he’s Black, which was a pretty big deal at the time. He is, in fact, credited as the first Black superhero in mainstream comics.

He spent years working mainly as a partner to Captain America but after a mere thirty-five year internship he got a shot at the title and became Cap himself.

The comic universe version of the Falcon was so close with his bird, Redwing, that they suggested he was a mutant but I’m not sure anything ever came of it. The cinematic version solved the dilemma by making Redwing a ridiculously armed drone.
