It’s not clear why a short guy with bad manners and dubious hygiene should become a comic archetype with international recognition but there is little doubt that Wolverine has owned a top spot in the Marvel universe. Even though he’s named after an angry rodent, he has been to go-to guy for berserker anti-heroes for decades.
