The Patriot is not exactly Captain America, but certainly exists in Cap’s orbit.

The original Patriot, Jeffrey Mace, is a golden age Captain America wanna-be who eventually was a Captain America got-to-be. He just had to wait until the first two were taken out of commission.

The second person to parade around as the Patriot was Eli Bradley who was the grandson of Isaiah Bradley, a super soldier who once pretended to be Captain America. He didn’t get to be Cap himself, but he did get to lead the Young Avengers.

The most recent Patriot is a new Captain America wanna-be for a new Captain America. Rayshaun Lucas is a huge fan of Sam Wilson, the newest Captain America, and he adopted the identity of the Patriot to facilitate his stalking.
