The Justice Society of America was the great superhero team of DC Comics golden age. It was the predecessor to the modern Justice League, but has been retconned several times to run concurrently with the Justice League.

The lineup has changed over the years but the JSA has stayed active as a plan B for the DC universe in case the League is not available.
