An uppity scientist and his thuggish best friend take the scientist’s girlfriend and her punk little brother on a stolen experimental rocket ride. What could go wrong? Nothing, from perspective of Marvel Comics. Mr. Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, the Thing and the Human Torch have been the first family of the Marvel universe ever since. Thanks to half a century of friends, significant others, and hangers-on the roster has actually varied over the years, at times replacing the original family entirely somehow. They always come back to the well, though. I guess no other foursome is full-time fantastic enough.
