“Alas, it sometimes occurs to me that super-heroing is not the most tranquil of avocations!“

Beast was one of my favorite Avengers as a kid. He was cool looking, fast and strong, and browbeat everyone with his vocabulary like a Kevin Smith protagonist. That’s because besides his superhuman strength and agility Beast was also a multiple PhD-holding genius as well. It was years before I realized that he had been an X-Man as well, a founder even. Oddly enough he didn’t look like a mutant back then but had the same pretentious proclivities. 

Beast was blue and furry for years before he changed back to regular-looking to hunt mutants with X-Force. After marketing grew tired of the original X-Men again he was re-graded to fuzzy Beast.

He has since been branded with cat- and later ape-mode, just to keep things interesting. He has even had a couple of evil incarnations here and there.

If he’s open to the idea I think he’s just one mutation away from network stardom.
