I saved one life, does it stop there or do I go on? Maybe this is what I’ve been waiting for. Maybe I’m finally part of something… bigger.

Ms. Marvel is the name of several heroines in the Marvel Universe. Most of the time a re-used name comes with a little continuity, but in this case most of these characters have absolutely nothing at all to do with any other.

The first Ms. Marvel is Carol Danvers, a feminist heroine who gains her powers from Captain Marvel. She served as a long-term member of the Avengers as Ms. Marvel and as Warbird. Years later, she would take on the title Captain Marvel herself.

Sharon Ventura was enhanced by the Power Broker and took on the name Ms. Marvel to try her hand at superheroism. She worked with the Fantastic Four and dated the Think for a time and I’m sure it’s a total coincidence she went on to become the She-Thing.

Karla Sofen did wear a costume similar to Carol Danvers’ as Ms. Marvel but that was just to conceal the fact that she was really the villain Moonstone. She ultimately abandoned the Ms. Marvel name and returned to villainy.

The current Ms. Marvel is Kamala Khan and she has nothing to do with the earlier versions other than being a fangirl. She is known for being a teen Pakistani Muslim living in New Jersey which, to be fair, is pretty distinctive. In the comics she is an Inhuman. In live action she is alien mutant which sounds bad, but just seems to have made her powers more glittery.
